Like the two preceding CDs from And Oceans, Allotropic features material that steadily outperforms standard black metal fare; in fact, favorable songwriting comparisons to genre heavyweights like Dimmu Borgir are by no means a stretch. And Oceans adopts a familiar, progressive, almost experimental stance especially on highlights like "Tears Have No Name" and "Of Devilish Tongues."
