Barbara Rubin & the Exploding NY Underground

Using intimate letters curated by Jonas Mekas, new light shines on the artist Barbara Rubin and solidifies her standing in film history. In 1960s New York, a teenage Barbara caused a stir amongst the city's underground film community with her experimental film, Christmas on Earth. She also contested other male-dominated spheres including Orthodox Judaism before her premature death.
