This fanciful recounting of the fantastic exploits of the 18th-century German baron (Hans Albers), a colorful tale-spinner, is a lavish spectacle with dazzling special effects. Brigitte Horney, Leo Slezak (father of American leading man Walter Slezak). Nazi propaganda chief Josef Goebbels commissioned the movie to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the German film studio UFA.
