Frank Capra directed this ill-fated romance about a Chinese warlord who falls in love with an American missionary who is at first repulsed by his attentions, but gradually becomes strangely drawn to the charismatic leader. The 1933 film was the first feature screened at New York City's Radio City Music Hall.
