Taut and engrossing fact-based thriller featuring tour-de-force performances by Ryan Phillippe and Chris Cooper. Phillippe plays an FBI trainee who is assigned to keep an eye on a fellow agent (Cooper) suspected of selling information to the Soviets. The film is based on the life of convicted spy Robert Hanssen. Directed by Billy Ray ("Shattered Glass"), who co-wrote the script with Adam Mazer and William Rotko.
