La Verbena de La Paloma

As staged and mounted at the Comunidad de Madrid, this colorful stage production exemplifies zarzuela, an unusual genre of Spanish theater. Authored by Tomás Bretón, +La Verbena de La Paloma weaves the tale of romance transpiring on a Madrid street, during the popular Our Lady of the Dove fiesta. The ensemble features José Antonio López, Amparo Navarro, Marina Pardo and David Rubiera; The Orchestra and Chorus of the Comunidad de Madrid, under the baton of Miguel Roa, provide musical accompaniment.
