Five adolescent girls at a New England convent school unearth evidence of rituals practiced by French nuns but not officially recognized by the church, questioning their faith as they struggle to remain pious during that crucial transition into adulthood. When a youthful postulate with extraordinary powers shows up at the convent, the girls begin to see the world as a place where anything is possible.
