Built on Narrow Land

Houses shaped by European-inspired architecture come to represent the tangled web of eminent domain and the manifestation of an artist's own dreams and desires in this documentary about a collection of houses built by a group of experimental designers in the late 1950s. Combining classic seaside sensibilities with the Modernist movement in Germany, a group of like-minded designers (including some novice artists) constructed a collection of wholly unique beach houses in Cape Cod. They threaten to lose credit and control over thier own creations, however, after a legal injunction by the newly-formed Cape Cod National Seashore organization, which threatens to give ownership of their structures to the federal government.
