With BURNING QUESTIONS, Graham Parker remains largely in the reflective mode he'd established on the preceding STRUCK BY LIGHTNING, but it's not all gentle introspection. There are several moments peppered throughout the album where he kicks into a sound akin to the rock & soul of his salad days, and when he does, the ace band of former Rumour bassist Andrew Bodnar, Style Council keyboardist Mick Talbot, and Elvis Costello's Attractions drummer Pete Thomas are there to lend Parker the proper brand of pub-rock-schooled support.
