Celebrated as one of the original luminaries of the Greenwich Village folk scene of the early 1960s, Carolyn Hester went on to form a psychedelic rock band, the Carolyn Hester Coalition. This first album by the outfit sounds a little dated now, but the stand-out tracks--the sweet, pastoral "Tomorrow When I Wake Up" and the tender piano ballad "Jay"--hew a little closer to her original trad folk territory. But fans of obscure '60s rock will enjoy even the missteps.
