Rhapsody: Fabio Lione (vocals); Luca Turilli (guitar); Alex Staropoli (piano, harpsichord, keyboards); Alessandro Lotto (bass); Alex Holzwath (drums).
Additional personnel includes: Maggie Ardorf (violin); Manuel Staropoli (recoder); Thunderforce (drums); Robert Hunecke-Rizzo, Thomas Rettke, Miro Rodenberg, Cinzia Rizzo, Florinda Klevisser, Constanze Backos (background vocals).
Recorded at Wolf and Pathway Studios, Wolfsburg, Germany between June and August, 2000.
Coming out of the neo-classical, theatric, fantasy-oriented school of prog metal is Rhapsody. Their style, while definitely way over the top, is rather above and beyond a lot of their ilk due to quite authentic classical/operatic elements. These elements include orchestral sections and choir-type vocal portions. Their brand of metal is certainly not lacking, though, with great intricacy, speed, and skill. The arrangements are very well done. If fantasy-oriented prog metal is your flavor, then this album is for you. It is one of the best of that style. ~ Gary Hill
