This 1994 release is a combination of the familiar Sir Douglas Quintet sound and some contemporary arrangement and production approaches. Working with longtime cohort Augie Meyers on organ, and drummer Doug Clifford (who played with Sahm for a time after Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded), Doug Sahm is also joined by his son Shawn on guitar (the father-son team penned some of the songs together). The familiar flashes of rollicking Tex-Mex mingle with selections that embrace louder, guitar-driven rock music. The production is crisp and radio-ready and throughout it all, Sahm sings like he's right where he belongs. This album appeared during the years of Sahm's regular touring and recording sessions with the Texas Tornados, and is a fine testament to his broad tastes and abilities.
