Taken directly from the optical track of the original 1971 film DEEP THROAT.
Digitally remastered by Sean Williams and Matt.
Arguably the most influential X-rated film from the golden age of porn, Deep Throat trademarked new lingo in the '70s' American sexual revolution, fueling debates over obscenity laws battled all the way to the Supreme Court. The controversy didn't stop there; the FBI confiscated all original masters of the film and its soundtrack in a modern day witch-hunt. Scattered vinyl copies of the soundtrack were distributed at theaters running the movie, and the identities of any of the musicians who performed on it are a mystery. A somewhat sporadic album, Deep Throat contains mostly movie dialogue spliced around music reminiscent of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and the campy vocal styling of John Valby (aka Dr. Dirty). So as theater audiences watched Linda Lovelace perform fellatio feats, they heard a suggestive orgy of low-grade funk, dirty jazz, wah-wah guitars, garbled organs, and cartoonish sound effects. "I'd Like to Teach the World to Screw (It's the Real Thing)," "I Got Blue Cross," and the main theme ooze sexy innuendo, and although obviously duplicated from vinyl, this compact disc delivers clean sound -- minor crackles, muffles, and warbling only add an endearing allure. From housewives to rock stars, the mystique surrounding Deep Throat became pop culture legend, and while the film hasn't aged well, this whimsical soundtrack may serve as a better reminder of its significance. ~ Craig Curtice
