Bowane was the star of early '50s Zairian music, Franco's mentor and founder/manager of Ry-co Jazz. Yet his only album, recorded in Ghana in 1976 where he was working as a musical entrepreneur, was never released -- until this album. Working with Accra horn-players, Bowane arrived at a mellow Ghana/Zaire fusion a little like the 1960s sound of Ignace De Souza. ~ John Storm Roberts, Original Music
