When "Ginza," the 2015 pre-release single from J Balvin's sophomore full-length Energia dropped, it spent 22 consecutive weeks atop Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart. The video got over half-a-billion views. Balvin's reach is wide on Energia. For starters, it's loaded with all-star guest appearances including (co-producer) Pharrell Williams & BIA ("Safari"), Juanes ("No hay titulo"), and Yandel ("Acércate"). Secondly, it's sequenced into very distinct, strategic sections. The first third delivers sexy, nighttime R&B-cum-rap-style singing grooves ("Bobo"), a ballad-heavy second third with "Pierde Los Modales" (feat. Daddy Yankee), and the final one with reggaeton branching into pop/rock-soul club floor-bangers ("Solitario").
