A two-disc compilation from the Australian wing of Sony, Essential 00s: 2005-2009 contains a wide assortment of major pop hits from the latter half of the 2000s' first decade. That said, it's heavy on rockers young and old, with the likes of Avril Lavigne ("Girlfriend"), Good Charlotte ("Keep Your Hands Off My Girl"), Daughtry ("It's Not Over"), Live ("The River"), and Velvet Revolver ("She Builds Quick Machines") more common than R&B, rap, and straight-up pop contributors (represented by Chris Brown, Shakira, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake).
