A young woman named Ruth abandons her daughter and goes on the run to hide her seismic superhuman abilities. After eight years, she returns home to her judgmental mother and a daughter who doesn't know her but who has inherited similar powers. The two work together to form a bond, harness their abilities and evade capture by Ruth's pursuers.
