The title of Millie Jackson's FEELING BITCHY hints at what sort of rating the album should receive, and Jackson follows through by packing the set with sexually explicit monologues and saucy, sexy attitude. While such risque content wasn't out of place in the late 1970s, fans of vintage soul might be a bit taken aback.
These caveats aside, FEELING BITCHY is a still a rock-solid R&B release, and Jackson's vocal gifts are as impressive as ever. Whether dispensing no-holds-barred street-wise advice ("All the Way Lover") or churning up fiery soul ("Angel in Your Arms"), Jackson's throaty alto and brassy spirit are infectious, making this 1977 release a must-have for '70s R&B fans. The 2007 CD reissue boasts excellent remastered sound.
