Widely known for propagating one of the boldest and most daring lifestyles of late 19th century England, Mary Ann Evans - better known as George Eliot - scandalized Victorian Era Britain on a personal level even while she triumphed as a novelist. The documentary George Eliot: Life and Literature recounts Eliot's life story and most noteworthy career accomplishments, from her childhood in Griff, England with two Anglican parents, through her drift into Coventry society, her rejection of many church teachings, and the publication of such groundbreaking literary masterpieces as Adam Bede, Middlemarch, The Mill on the Floss and Silas Marner.
