When an explosion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art claims the life of his mother, Theo inadvertently steals a noteworthy piece of art in the aftermath of the attack. He is then adopted by a bourgeoisie, Upper East Side couple in New York City and later crosses paths with the unruly Boris, and the pair finds their lives inexplicably linked to the painting.
