This curious release from the French label FGL celebrates and/or cashes in on Arnold Schwarzenegger's California power grab with a slate of music from the action hero-turned-"Governator"'s films, performed here by the City of Prague Philharmonic. Frequent watchers of cable outlets like TBS Superstation or USA will be familiar with the stirring main title from the oft-run sci-fi classic Predator, and a suite of music from the first two Terminator films is similarly recognizable. But The Governator also includes titles from Ah-nold duds like Junior and Raw Deal, as well as the themes to both Commando and The Running Man, which with their chintzy 1980s synthesizers and sluggish pacing have not aged well. The album ends with a lukewarm rock & roll run through the satirical Dead Kennedys classic "California Über Alles." For whatever reason, The Governator's liners include Schwarzenegger's physical measurements from his pro body-building days. ~ Johnny Loftus
