"L.A. Confidential" meets "Chinatown" in this involving and masterfully realized crime thriller. Adrien Brody gives a compelling performance as a glory-seeking gumshoe hired to investigate the suspicious 1959 death of actor George Reeves (Ben Affleck), who played Superman on TV.
