Based on the 1962 film of the same name, the television series HOW THE WEST WAS WON follows Zeb (James Arness), a toughened mountain man, his widowed sister-in-law, Kate (Eva Marie Saint), and Kate's eldest son, Luke (Bruce Boxleitner), who is on the run from the law after deserting the Union Army.
