Like a lot of the volumes in Universal's extensive Icon series, this Diana Ross set is almost identical to the corresponding 20th Century Masters, released in 2000. The only difference here is that the version of "Remember Me" is the "Alternate Vocaland Mix," first released on Hip-O Select's 2008 reissue of Surrender. Most of the selections, which cover Ross' self-titled 1970 solo album through 1981's "Endless Love" (her hit duet with Lionel Richie) are essential for any casual Diana Ross fan. While this is a handy overview, 11 tracks could not possibly come close to telling the full story. Numerous Top Ten R&B singles did not fit into this budget-priced format. ~ Andy Kellman
