Bill Nelson's fascination with synthesizer noises, tape loops and samplers came firmly to the fore with this album, produced under the Orchestra Arcana name to prevent difficulties with Portrait, his label at the time. Often self-indulgent, Iconography does manage some intriguing moments. It remains, however, one of the more easily missed releases in Nelson's catalog. ~ Steven McDonald
