Imperial Singles Collection

At 75 tracks and three CDs, Not Now's The Imperial Singles Collection is _ the size of EMI's classic box set They Call Me the Fat Man, but since that's out of print, this is a good substitute. True, the sequencing is a bit haphazard and the notes leave something to be desired, but as sheer music, this is terrific -- song after song is either a hit, or a song that feels like it was a hit. Fats Domino was one of the most consistently enjoyable singles acts of his generation, and his 45s still satisfy, no matter how they're heard. This set just has the advantage of being generous and affordable, which is not a bad combo at all. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
