After his wildly successful DARE TO DREAM album, the iconic New Age performer Yanni decided to rein in the dense, propulsive, synthesizer-heavy element of his music, opting for a more intimate, piano-led sound on 1993's IN MY TIME. The stylistic change certainly didn't hurt the Greek superstar's popularity; if anything, it increased his already-high profile, leading to the multi-platinum concert performance LIVE AT THE ACROPOLIS.
IN MY TIME opens with the spare, delicate "In the Morning Light," establishing a beautifully hushed tone, with gentle piano lines gliding over light, subtle keyboard backing. "The End of August" takes on a fittingly warm, late-summer mood that's enhanced by the emotive violin playing of Endre Granat, while "Only a Memory" uses sensitive piano/keyboard interplay to conjure up nostalgia for bygone eras.
