In the Arms of an Angel is the debut album by Scottish pop singer and 2013 X Factor runner-up Nicholas McDonald. The teenaged singer quickly signed a deal with RCA Records after his strong showing on the popular British talent contest. Recorded in January 2014, the album's 11 songs are made up mostly of covers, many of which McDonald performed during his rise on The X Factor. The album's title is taken from his cover of Sarah McLachlan's song "Angel." Other covers include Adele's "Someone Like You" and Bruno Mars' "Just the Way You Are." The catchy lead single "Answerphone" is one of the three original songs McDonald co-wrote for his debut, which was released in March 2014. ~ Timothy Monger
