Braxton's set of vintage bop and mainstream songs, done with reverence and, for the most part, extreme competence. These seemed to be Braxton's answer to those who claimed he knew little about jazz tradition and even less about how to present it on album. Reaction to both albums was strong; fellow alto saxophonist Bob Mover even cut an album in answer to them. ~ Ron Wynn
