Quintessence was a British/Indian psychedelic band from the 1960s whose trippiness had more of a spiritual than lysergic bent. This 1972 album was their swansong, and although it doesn't break any new ground in the genre, it is a compelling prog-rock exploration, and a heartfelt and ecumenical ode to all things transcendent, including Jesus, Hindu deities, meditation, and the guru Sai Baba.
