Soul Brother Number One gets down for the holiday season on this album, featuring 11 yuletide jams from James Brown and producer/songwriter Derrick Monk. Originally released in 1999 as The Merry Christmas Album, It's a Funky Christmas features ten hip-hop-styled original tunes that celebrate the joys of the Christmas season ("Reindeer on the Rooftop," "Clean for Christmas") as well as offering thoughtful social commentary ("Don't Forget the Poor at Christmas," "Christmas Is for Everyone"). Rounding out the package is a dance-oriented reworking of the classic "Sleigh Ride."
