Secret Records compilation Jack Rabbit Blues: The Singles 1958 To 1960 collects songs that a then-young-journeyman Ike Turner performed with a motley cast of bands and musicians before rising to rock & roll royalty. Jack Rabbit Blues highlights Turner fronting his own Kings of Rhythm ("Down and Out") as well as his collaborations with the likes of blues boss-in-waiting Buddy Guy ("You Sure Can't Do"), blues guitar virtuoso Otis Rush ("All Your Love [I Miss Loving]"), soul-pop sensation Betty Everett ("I'll Weep No More"), and backup vocalist Little Ann -- that is, Annie Mae Bullock, who would become Ike's wife and a soul shouting diva, Tina Turner -- (from "Box Top" to "A Fool in Love"). Spanning two discs and pulling many of its strongest tracks from similar era compilations like Real Gone Rocket: Session Man Extraordinaire: Selected Singles 1951-59 and Down and Out: The Cobra Sessions 1958-1959, Jack Rabbit Blues works like a best-of for a prolific chapter in Turner's career.
