Killed by Deathrock, Vol. 1

Lovers of the obscure and seemingly lost, Brooklyn label Sacred Bones sheds a little light on the darker side of early punk with Killed by Deathrock, Vol. 1. Cobbled together by label head Caleb Braaten, the 11-track compilation explores the lesser-known genre with a gloomy collection of tracks from bands like Sweden's Kitchen & the Plastic Spoons, American band the Naked and the Dead, and Germany's Taste of Decay. While most of these bands were more or less lost to time, this compilation resurrects them for a new generation, giving them the moment in the spotlight they never got in their day. ~ Gregory Heaney
