Liner Note Author: Chris Bolton .
While the material Ralph and Carter Stanley recorded for Columbia in the late 1940s and early '50s pretty much stands as the Rosetta Stone of bluegrass, the story of the Stanley Brothers doesn't end there. As is well documented on RALPH AND CARTER: THE LATER KING YEARS, the brothers were still at the peak of their powers during their 1961 to '65 tenure at the King label. While their popularity had flagged somewhat by this time, the pair's sterling harmonies and peerless picking were still strictly top-shelf, which makes it all the more tragic that Carter would pass away in '66, ending the duo's career too early.
