Swedish death-metal traditionalists Death Breath, the brainchild of Entombed co-founder Nicke Anderson, play rugged thrash that keeps the hammer down from start to finish. Unlike some of their genre contemporaries, they do their best to keep things as organic as possible, avoiding programmed drums or synthesizers like the plague. On LET IT STINK, they steamroll through seven tracks--four originals, and covers by forefathers G.B.H., Bathory, and Discharge--with the fury of true believers. Not as technically obsessed as modern death-metallers, Death Breath is satisfied to rip into their material with a red-meat gusto influenced by old-school pioneers. Early '80s hardcore and thrash elements ensure that, first and foremost, the songs simply rock, and by keeping things ugly, scary, and mean, Death Breath remind longtime fans what death metal used to sound like.
