Known as "Whispering Bill" for his gentle, soft, and airy singing style, country singer Bill Anderson had his share of hits between the 1950s and late '70s, but it was his songwriting that was always his bread and butter, and the array of artists who have recorded songs of his is staggering, from Connie Smith, Hank Locklin, Faron Young, and Jim Reeves to more modern stars like Kenny Chesney, Lorrie Morgan, Collin Raye, John Michael Montgomery, Mark Wills, Brad Paisley, Vince Gill, and others, and song for song, he has been one of country music's most successful songwriters. Anderson has recorded sparingly in the 21st century, so this set, Life!, comes as a welcome sight for his many fans. Anderson wrote or co-wrote everything here, and calls in friends and guests Willie Nelson, John Anderson, Vince Gill, Joey + Rory, Dailey & Vincent, and the Great American Choir to help out on select cuts. ~ Steve Leggett
