Like its predecessor, TEARS OF JOY, 1989's LOVE WARRIORS finds the married jazz/pop duo of guitarist Tuck Andress and vocalist Patti Cathcart offering up a compelling mix of smooth, delicate originals and thoughtful cover tunes. Highlights of this supremely laid-back album include the romantic title track (an Andress-penned number), a charmingly playful version of the Beatles' "Honey Pie," and a stirring medley of Jimi Hendrix's "Castles Made of Sand" and "Little Wing," all of which spotlight Tuck's spry six-string playing and Patti's emotive singing. Slightly more adventurous than TEARS, LOVE WARRIORS easily stands out as one of Tuck & Patti's finest recordings.
