Audio Mixer: John Luard Timperley.
Liner Note Authors: James Fitzpatrick; Jason Howard; Andrew Lamb.
Recording information: Copthorne Studios; Prague, Czech Republic; Smecky Studios; Whitfield Street Studios, London, England.
Unknown Contributor Roles: Crouch End Festival Chorus; Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
Jason Howard recreates the baritone roles of Hollywood's great musicals in a tribute to Howard Keel and Gordon MacRae, the performers who originated the roles that live forever on the silver screen.
Howard's smooth, rich vocal talent lends itself easily to the Broadway show tunes. The compositions of Rodgers and Hammerstein, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern and others are crowd pleasing, passionate anthems of the golden age of musical theater. Howard has both the technique and showmanship to make this collection a pleasure. Duets with Ria Jones and Jill Washington give an interesting emotional depth. Accompaniment by Paul Bateman and the City of Prague Philharmonic is at once elegant and elaborate. The beautiful performances are enough to make one forget the stage or screen-the music stands proud all on its own.
