Best known for spearheading the "Back to Africa" movement and for his role as one of the early forerunners of the Civil Rights movement (an inspiration on Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and many others), Marcus Garvey actually led a long, complex and multifaceted life that catapulted him to the status of Jamaican Folk Hero and Black Nationalist Pioneer. Though seldom acknowledged in history books, Garvey eventually grew so powerful that the FBI infiltrated and all but tore apart his Universal Negro Improvement Association. The documentary Marcus Garvey: A Giant of Black Politics relays Garvey's life, times and accomplishments, as told through the eyes of interviewees including Beverly Hamilton, Sam Clayton, Vivian Durham and Professor Rupert Lewis. Mystic Revelation of Rastafari composed the soundtrack.
