One of the better entries in the "Mr. Moto" series from 20th Century-Fox, Mr. Moto's Last Warning comes to DVD in a decent low-priced edition from Alpha Video. Costing between $5 and $8 depending upon where one buys it, this disc offers a passable tranfer of a clean if not terribly bright print. This is one of the best B-mysteries ever made at Fox, with afairly complex plot and a cast worthy of an "A" title, including George Sanders (sporting a French accent), Ricardo Cortez (playing a dangerously paranoid ventriloquist), Robert Coote (as a buffoonish English tourist-author), John Carradine (cast effectively against type as a British secret service agent), and a bogus Moto lurking around as well. FoxVideo could, undoubtedly, deliver a better looking disc if they ever had a mind to, but as there's almost no chance of that -- movies starring European actors in Oriental detective roles are too politically incorrect today -- this is probably as good a chance as we'll ever have to enjoy this movie today. The sound is consistent throughout and the image is mostly clean if not sharp, apart from some very scratchy sections at 30 minutes and 48 minutes in. The five chapters are adequate for the film and the movie is easy to open through a simple menu.
