MWNG [Bonus Tracks]

Making an all-Welsh-language album accessible to the general public is no small feat, but Super Furry Animals managed to pull it off via its fourth full-length offering, MWNG. On this outing, lead vocalist and guitarist Gruff Rhys did away with the band's overly ambitious, synthesizer-laden production in favor of stripped-down, straightforward pop melodies, all without sacrificing the Super Furry Animals' psychedelic roots. Despite the fact that the language makes the lyrics nearly impossible to sing along to, MWNG proved to be a pivotal and well-received offering in the band's 19-year existence. All in all, MWNG is a criminally overlooked and criminally under-appreciated effort.
