Ojo de Culebra

Mixing up traditional Mexican rancheras, Latin American cumbias, vintage blues, and R&B, jazz, rock, and other points in between, Lila Downs is an artist whose musical landscape is defined by her talents as a singer, arranger, and songwriter and limited only by her imagination. Her 2008 album Ojo de Culebra (also released as Shake Away) is dominated by her trademark fusion of influences and featured guest appearances by La Mari, Raul Midón, Mercedes Sosa, Enrique Bunbury, and Gilberto Gutierrez. ~ Mark Deming
