Howard Crockett's biggest claim to fame is as a songwriter: he wrote the biggest hits for the late 1950s honky-tonk singer Johnny Horton, including "Whispering Pines," "All Grown Up," and "Honky Tonk Man." Crockett also did some recording of his own for Dot, Manco, and Smash Records, and these recordings have been compiled on the anthology OUT OF BOUNDS. Like Horton, Crockett revels in honky-tonk twang with a rockabilly underpinning, and this set, the first of its kind, should prove invaluable to roots and rockabilly collectors.
