Playlist: The Very Best of Mariah Carey

With its no-frills, eco-friendly packaging -- it's part of an extensive budget-line series distributed by Sony -- Playlist: The Very Best of Mariah Carey is clearly aimed at casual fans. However, the set is a little too skimpy to be all that recommendable at all, since it favors some of the singer's second- and third-tier singles over Top Tens. Playlist is more like a sampler, one that does feature some must-own Carey songs in "Dreamlover," "Emotions," "Fantasy," and "Make It Happen." ~ Andy Kellman
