Jimi Hendrix is simply the most influential and iconic guitar player in the history of rock. His left-handed, upside-down style of playing, his control of feedback and distortion, and his whole approach to the electric guitar -- all of this combined to make him not only great but completely singular. This set is a repackaging of 1969's Smash Hits LP with the same songs in the same running order, and while there is a whole lot more to Hendrix's unique catalog than these dozen tracks, these are the songs he's most known for, the songs that keep showing up on rock radio stations some 50 years after they were originally released. ~ Steve Leggett
