From the opening lines of Porno for Pyros' 1993 self-titled debut ("I've got the devil in me/it's a cloud"), it's clear Perry Farrell's back, and has brought his mix of sinister sneer and gentle mysticism with him. While PORNO FOR PYROS is generally set on a level less raucous than most of Farrell's output with Jane's Addiction (the unbridled shouter "Bad Sh*t," a notable exception), Farell remains charmingly unsettling (and unsettlingly charming). From the psychedelic hops of "Cursed Female" to the creepy lullaby of "Pets," PORNO FOR PYROS explores the back alleys of the soul in a manner few but wraith prince Farrell can.
