Terrence Howard gives a commanding performance in this inspiring, fact-based biopic. Howard plays Jim Ellis, caretaker of an inner-city Philadelphia community center in the 1970s, who forms a swim team at the run-down facility. Soon he has a championship squad that can match privileged suburban white hotshots stroke for stroke. Bernie Mac provides comic relief as a sage building janitor. Directed by Sunu Gonera.
