On his debut LP, SCOUTS HONOR...BY WAY OF BLOOD, NY rapper Rampage serves up a non-stop burst of lyrical and musical energy, broad in scope and influence, and engaging in performance. The album is graced by the accompaniment of his cousin Busta Rhymes and samples of everyone from Eric B. & Rakim to the Electric Prunes. Rampage's deep, staccato verbal attack descends rather directly from one of his prime influences; Public Enemy. In fact, "Flipmode Enemy #1" is actually a remake of "Public Enemy #1."
The violence and hard sound of SCOUT'S HONOR... are tempered by skits that serve as interludes, featuring Rampage and friends in a variety of racy comedic sketches. The album features a large cast of characters who broaden the overall sound. Besides the members of his Flipmode Squad, Meka and labelmate Billy Lawrence drop in to add to the mix.
