The Move just never played by the rules. In 1966, when futurism and innovation were pop's watchwords, the Birmingham combo stole riffs from Tchaikovsky and covered the pre-rock standard "Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart." In 1968, when rebellious anti-authoritarianism was the thing, the Move tidied up and went on the cabaret circuit. And in 1969, when "doing your own thing" was the catchphrase of the day, the Move went onstage at London's late, lamented Marquee and only did other people's things for this all-covers set. Opening with the definitive version of the Byrds' snide "So You Want to Be a Rock and Roll Star," Roy Wood and company went on to essay Love's punky "Stephanie Knows Who," Eddie Cochran's "Something Else," and five other gems. This expanded version collects the entire concert for the first time, adding the unedited version of "Sunshine Help Me."
