The 2012 live album St. Peter & 57th St. features the legendary Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing at Carnegie Hall. Featuring the 2012 Preservation Hall Jazz Band line-up led by bassist Ben Jaffe and including trumpeter Mark Braud, trombonist Freddie Lonzo, clarinetist/vocalist Charlie Gabriel, and others, the show was a benefit concert intended to raise funds for the Preservation Hall Music Outreach Program. Appearing alongside the band were several guest artists including the Del McCoury Band, Steve Earle, Trombone Shorty, and others. Released in celebration of the Preservation Hall's 50th Anniversary, the album is a rootsy, high-energy, and spirited mix of New Orleans jazz and blues with some gospel and country inflections. ~ Matt Collar
